20 / 100 / 120 hours. Student will take a total of 5 weeks to complete the course making 20 hours of class and 100 hours of lab.
Prerequisites: Enrollment to Academy, be +18 years of age or under 17 with parent consent. Requirement of students to have a G.E.D or High School Diploma.
Subject Description:
06 PIPELINE API 1104- Intro Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours
Prerequisites: Admission to program.
Is combined of lecture and lab in one on one demonstrations with the assigned instructor. The introduction will cover basic and fundamental steps needed to know how the PIPELINE-API 1104 process on pipeline works. Students will learn how to properly fit and prepare pipe bevels, strike an arc, run basic welding beads, weld a root pass with 6010(downhill) electrode, and learn to weld 8010(downhill) Electrode. Students will also learn to identify and fix any troubleshoot problems that can or may occur. Finally, student will also be thought proper cleaning methods for welds, along with the proper and safe way of using an Oxy-Fuel Torch for cutting procedures.
06 PIPELINE AP1 1104- 5G Position Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours
Prerequisites: pass the visual test of course, 06 Pipeline API 1104- Intro.
At this stage students will be welding on a pipe at a 5G horizontal position. Students will learn to: weld a root pass with 6010 electrodes, weld a hot and filler pass using electrode 8010 and weld the cap process with electrode 8010.
06 PIPELINE API 1104- 6G Position Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours
Prerequisites: pass the visual test of courses, 06 Pipeline API 1104- Intro and 5G position.
6G Position consist of welding in a fixed 45-degree position. Student will learn to: weld a root pass in the fixed 6G position with 6010 electrodes, weld a hot and filler pass in 6G position with 8010 electrodes, to later weld the cap process on a 6G position with electrode 8010.
06 PIPELINE API 1104 – Branch (saddle) Test Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours
Prerequisites: pass the visual test of courses, 06 Pipeline API 1104- Intro, 5G and 6G positions. On the Branch (saddle) Test students will learn how to: properly prepare and set up for the branch test, lay out and cut the branch test with proper fitting and fitment, weld root a root pass on branch test with 6010 electrode, weld hot and filler passes with 8010 electrode on branch test. Student will then weld and learn the cap process with 8010 electrodes on the branch test.
06 PIPELINE API 1104- Final Pipe Test Lab 20 hours
Prerequisites: pass the visual test of courses, 06 Pipeline API 1104- Intro, 5G, 6G positions and the branch (saddle)test. Final Test will be a 12-inch 250 wall fixed in a 5G position. Once pipe is done being welded straps will be cut at 12,6,3,9 o’clock and bend to see test results.
