The introduction will cover basic and fundamental steps needed to know how the PLATE-SMAW process on plate works. Students will learn how to properly fit and prepare plate bevels, strike an arc, run basic welding beads, weld a root pass with 6010 electrodes, and learn to weld 7018 Electrode. While starting out in a 1G horizontal flat position. Students will also learn to identify and fix any troubleshoot problems that can or may occur. Finally, student will also be thought proper cleaning methods and techniques on the welds that will be executed.

03 PLATE SMAW- 2G POSITION    Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours

Prerequisites: pass the visual test of course, 03 Plate SMAW- Intro.

At this stage students will be welding on a plate at a 2G horizontal position. Students will then learn to: weld a root pass with 6010 electrodes, weld a hot and filler pass using electrode7018, and weld the cap process with electrode 7018 on a fixed 2G horizontal position.

03 PLATE SMAW- 3G Position   Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours

Prerequisites: pass the visual test of courses, 03 Plate SMAW- Intro and 2G position. 3G position consist of vertical welding. Student will learn to: weld a root pass in the fixed 3G position with 6010 electrodes, weld a hot and filler pass in 3G position with 7018 electrodes, to later weld the capping process on a 3G position with electrode 7018.

03 PLATE SMAW- 4G Position   Lec 5 hours/ Lab 20 hours

Prerequisites: pass the visual test of courses, 03 Plate SMAW- Intro, 2G and 3G positions. 4G consist of overhead welding. Students will learn how to: weld a root passes in 4G position with 6010 electrodes, along with welding a hot and filler pass on a 4Gposition with 7018 electrodes. Student will then weld and learn the cap process on a fixed 4G position using electrode 7018.

03 PLATE SMAW- Test on plate in all positions   Lab 20 hours

Prerequisites: pass the visual test of courses, 03 Plate SMAW- Intro, 2G, 3G and 4G positions. Students will take a test on every position (2g,3g,4g). Once the student is done, we will cut and bend all tests to see if the student passed or failed.
